Similar deal; my wife has a 1990s Schwinn hybrid that she loves. Steel frame, Shimano SIS 3x8, rack mounts, very solid practical bike.

I just saw a craigslist ad for the exact same bike with Specialized branding.

Sometimes it is just the stickers.
