I'd be interested to know your route out of London - did you ride to Dover?
I did cycle to Dover - out of SE London via Greenwich, Dartford and into Kent. To be honest it was a bit difficult for my level. Some of the hills killed me. It was a nice route though, quite rural for the most of it.
