I live in the Texas Hill Country, so Yes.
Despite riding FG on the road for >40 years routes are carefully selected to suit my 70GI set-up, my road bike sports a 36GI low that is well used locally.

If I run across a suitable quality horizontal dropout racing frame to convert to S3X it might well be an interesting addition to the fleet.
If the hub was designed for close ratios I would already have built one up. Dropping from 70GI to 53GI on a FG would feel like falling into a well but SA didn't ask me (or any experienced LD/FG riders apparently) when they designed the S3X.

Nothing is perfect and a single ratio FG works for me, even if it limits where I can ride it.
After a few decades you just get used to it.
