Yeah, 20k and change. And yeah, our roads are plain terrible. I'm okay with it. I picked up the CX100 for just under $800, I feel like I pummeled my money's worth out of it. I actually rode it about 2 miles after it split, apparently-- I heard a clicking, but couldn't tell where it was coming from. By the time I got home, the click had become a CLUNK on every pedal revolution.
Just as metal fatigue is real, so is steel-- that's the replacement. I'm picking up a steel frameset and moving over all of my gear, seeing as half the stuff on the bike has been replaced since just last November, and the wheels are still under 500 miles. Frame is supposed to arrive by Wednesday, so until then, I have cobbled together an abomination, out of cast off bits and bobs, and a hideous GT Outpost frame...
It's like cyclocross, but backwards. OH, and the shift cables are electric green, and the brake are braided gold. <pinkies up>
Fancy. And yes, the chainline is horrible. Out of 20, there are legitimately 8 gears that don't rub on anything.
I think this is an admission that I cannot go a full 5 days without riding. For better or worse.
