I've owned a lot of Paramounts and Italians over the years. Build quality and craftsmanship of Paramounts is just as good if not better than many Italians. At the end of the day a Corvettes a Corvette and a Ferraris a Ferrari.
It's kind of like being a minority or a woman. You have to be better than the established competition to be respected. The Italians got away with a lot of flaws because they are held up as the highest standard. Schwinn couldn't get away with that with their top of the line product.
