Those little paper tabs on the calipers are only for shipping, to prevent the barrel adjusters from coming out of the caliper arms when there's no cable installed to put tension on the system.
How cool is that?! I just take the "nut" and put it on the other side of the arm so as not to loose them. I wish at least three other people had done the same before selling me the calipers!
