Stretch Shimano R088

Cycling shoes will stretch if done properly. Mine were too tight in the toebox causing numbness and pain. So I got a good shoe stretcher and spray. Spray the inside very liberally and crank the sides out almost to where you think it is too much that the stitching will come loose. Then leave it for an hour. I now have enough room to put in a cycling orthotic and metatarsal pad and my foot pain is practically nonexistent. Sure the stitching is slightly stretched but nothing noticable and has stood the test of time. Also, to maintain that stretch you may have to do the entire process maybe every month and/or put a shoe tree in after riding. I have Shimano R088's. Just last week I called Shimano and they said later models have slightly bigger toe boxes so will stretch even further.
