Yeah, they hold up pretty well. Not years and years, but a good, long time. We are just frustrated by the slow warm up to full brightness. In closets and hallways where you need light right now we are still using halogens. Goodwill is certainly a possibility. And I like the women's shelter idea, but they would have to match the equipment there.
