Given my riding needs I decided to go low-key on the specs. I ordered a Nexus 8spd internal hub, Sun CR-18 rims, Apex fenders and a rack.
I'll definitely post a collage when I've got it unpacked.
Finals are over, the weather is cooperating, so today was the big day...
I'm a newbie's newbie. I hadn't ridden a bike in about 10 years (I'm 25 now) when I bought a barely used Trek 700 a little over a month ago, but the idea of owning a folding bike really appealed to me (and seemed to make sense as I live in a small apartment and I take public transportation most of the time). I knew I would eventually buy one because this forum was the one I read religiously when I first discovered this site. I mostly drooled over the Raleigh Twenty, but I'm wholly unequipped to start on a 'project' bike.
I'm a grad student who plans on biking to class about 3 miles round-trip to and from school, and given my inexperience, and the fact that I live in an urban area, I wanted an internal hub to keep things simple.
The Swift was easy to assemble out of the box, and even easier to fold. The ride was, in one word, FUN. I stayed on mostly flat ground, but found shifting and braking to be smooth. The bike seemed solid in my opinion (though again, my perspective is limited), and I didn't have a problem steering at all. I'm barely over 5'2" and found the bike to be comfortable.
I'm now looking forward to getting to know my Swift and finding new ways to spend my student loans. It was great talking to Peter about what I needed, and he definitely delivered. I'd highly recommend the Swift to anyone!
Oh, and before I forget, I want to thank all of the members of this forum in advance - I'm sure I'll have tons of questions as I get used to my new ride, and you all have been more than helpful already.
