OP, you are expecting modern performance from old equipment, I'd ditch 'em now before they leave you wanting in an emergency.
I'm not expecting these to have "modern preformance" (even though these are modern center pulls), I know my old dual pivots were better at stopping the bike. I just know that I set these up wrong and they have the potential to be much better. I don't mind the fuss, I'm learning a lot. Besides, I didn't get these to increase power, I got them to still have acceptable braking power while making room for fenders. Fenders were literally undoable with my tektro dual pivots
