My ROHLOFF has 21.8 to 116 GI
My last tour, I left my Rohloff at home because the large (13 percent) jumps between each gear would not work well on the flats in south Florida. I wanted closer spaced gearing for ease of maintaining cadence for slightly shifting winds. Instead brought a derailleur bike, eight speed rear (11/12/14/16/18/21/26/32) with triple front (46/42/24). The 42 and 46 tooth chainrings were nearly perfectly half step gearing with my eight speed cassette, which was great on this trip.
I had been there only a few hours when I knew that I made the right decision to leave my Rohloff bike at home. I do not think I ever used my 24T granny gear on that trip, since the only "hills" were bridges, I usually climbed up the bridges with 42 front/26 rear.
