Shop shrewdly - not to suggest that you don't. But I subscribe to a number of online bike stores (Competitive Cyclist being one) that'll offer pretty good deals or coupon codes, then I stock up on it. eg. best time to get winter gear is about now, then I keep it in the closet for next winter. I've got a few summer bibs and jerseys I bought on sale in the fall too. Same with tires and tubes.
