I did just over an hour at recovery pace yesterday before I started the drive home, brought me to just over 19.5k feet for the trip. I've had weeks where I got less elevation here than on that recovery ride.
Home now, dog tired from the drive. The new Focus was great on the trip, but that car really needs either a stick or more choices than just "D" and "L" for forward gears. The high-end version comes with paddle shifters, I understand. Pushing down on the accelerator makes it drop two gears, going from 2,500 rpm to 5,000 (redline is ~6,500) when an intermediate gear would be just fine. Interestingly, on cruise control, it'll just drop down one gear at a time. And I-10's pavement in Texas is really loud in spots, had to crank the stereo somewhat just to hear the music.
1:30 at recovery pace tomorrow with fast pedal intervals. Good chance of rain tomorrow, so I'm going to ride the Ridley since it's already dirty from Tucson.
