Because most typical bike computers that you can mount to your stem use ANT+ signals. It's kinda impractical to use a cell phone as a head unit while riding, though some people do. I have a Bontrager Node 2.1 I use while riding, it reads any ANT+ devices that are in range when pairing. I just assumed you already had an outdoor setup and were just trying to find the cheapest way to get into Zwift with the least fuss.
