I haven't tried it yet because I wasn't sure if moving it forward and then back would have a negative effect on the indexing. Indexed shifting and traditional canti brakes remain black arts to me and I've given up on figuring them out. Just trying to have the odds in my favor to avoid a trip to the LBS. I've got a break from work coming up so maybe I'll just give it a try and see what happens now that I know screwing it up is not necessarily a given.
