Abe- You can simply run casing to the stay and use a common cable stop there. Many 3 speeds are done this way. The cable pulley I used is from the ultra light aircraft industry, it's made from "fiber". I machined a post for it to mount to. The pulley has a rather deeper groove then the usual SA or Shimano ones do. Hence no need for the cable retention finger that the usual pulley uses. I chose the routing to reduce the chance of my heal snagging the cable (if run along the chain stay).


If all I had access to were common cable pieces I'd just use normal 3 speed stops and pulleys but one of the fun aspects of frame building is the fabricating of special parts. Andy
