Well, then I guess it's a good thing that it's not up to you.

I'm a big believer in choice, so that everybody has the ability to have stuff that suits his preferences. I have bike with all there common types of dropouts (ends), horizontal w/micro, vertical and track. and each is suited to the purpose of that bike.

I agree that track ends are less convenient that forward opening types, but on a fixed wheel where I have to pull the wheel and set chain tension anyway, the difference is so minor that I barely notice.

As far as the word dropout is concerned, I'm not a purist, and think it's fine because the context usually makes the meaning clear anyway.
