Questions
I had a totally different experience with the SA support email. They flatly refuse to send any maintenance or adjustment instructions for my 5 speed rotary shift new "C50" series hub, claiming instructions don't exist, which is hard to believe. How do SA mechanics work, just by fooling around and seeing what works...? They emailed to me just the PDF of the installation instructions that you get with the hub, and a Word file that shows perhaps the 1st 20% of the steps in breaking down a hub. Their CS is not very professional or polite, and don't seem to give a damn about their customers or business. No information can be found anywhere or to be provided on request on what kind of grease to use, how often, where to use it, etc. And no information on how to adjust the bearings, obviously the most critical thing in a hub. From scouring the Internet and reading articles on hubs 10 to 75 years old one can suss out that adjustments are made to the left hand non drive side only. Don't mess with the right hand drive side they say. However what if it was not set properly at the factory or gets out of adjustment over time or you disassemble the hub, how to know where to place the cone in the "right position" on the axle...? Are there marks there or you have to measure to the end of the axle with a ruler or what...? Extremely extremely frustrating to say the least. If anyone can help with explaining how the right hand cone is located and fixed in the right place on a new rotary shift hub would be very grateful. I don't feel like going in blind, playing around, f-ing things up and then being without my commuter bike for x days or weeks as it gets sorted out. thanks in advance if anyone can help...!
