I'm a big believer in choice, so that everybody has the ability to have stuff that suits his preferences. I have bike with all there common types of dropouts (ends), horizontal w/micro, vertical and track. and each is suited to the purpose of that bike.

I agree that track ends are less convenient that forward opening types, but on a fixed wheel where I have to pull the wheel and set chain tension anyway, the difference is so minor that I barely notice.
I'm not opposed to vertical dropouts since they do have some advantages over horizontal.

But I fail to see any advantage of rear facing track ends over forward facing horizontal dropouts. They make wheel removal slightly more annoying and they can't be used with gears. So why use them at all? Except on a legitimate track bike where they are required by the rules. As far as I know, that's the only reason they survive today.
