I never understood the Varsity. From it's weight and specification it might possibly be the worst post-war drop handlebar bike yet made. When I found out how much they weighed I assumed that was including mudguards, pannier rack, pump, dynohub lighting etc, but nope. 19.5 kilogrammes for a completely bare bike.
