Hi all. I'm an avid rider, new to L.A., and would love any and all tips about riding around the city. In particular, I'd love tips on riding Hollywood to/from the Valley. I've done it a couple times on Cahuenga and didn't love the experience. I have lots and lots of urban biking experience, don't mind riding on car-filled roads, but would like to avoid experiences like that (no shoulder, bad pavement, cars shooting along over 40 mph).

Beyond that route, I just would love general L.A. biking advice. I've lived and ridden in many major cities, feel comfortable using (and plan to use) my bike as my primary means of transportation around the city, both for day-to-day riding and longer recreational rides. I'd love tips about particularly L.A.-specific strategies, things to watch out for, streets to avoid, great unmissable rides in or around the city. Really anything you feel like sharing is welcome.
