I did find an interesting thing today. I was out for a ride around the neighborhood. On the way back, I found a quite nice CF road/TT bike in the ditch, about 3/4 miles from home.
A little mud on it, but no other obvious damage, no flat tires, wheels straight. I yelled, and nobody answered. And, it had been rained on a bit.
So, I picked it up and started walking both my bike, and the "found" bike home. I was contemplating how to report it (Craigslist, 2 or 3 local PDs, etc), when someone pulled out of driveway and slowed down to look at me a bit funny. I told her that I had found it 1/4 mile away, and she said "That's my bike".
Fortunately she found me heading towards her house, not away from it.
She parked her car and we rode back to where I found it. It seemed to fit her, and she was comfortable on it.
She seemed to have an idea of who/when she thought it was taken too.
Well, so I didn't end up with a $1500+ bike, but I'm happy to get the bike back to the owner
