Yep, 99% of the time it's just the flat floor flange on the wall. The pipe only gets screwed in if I want to work on the bike. It takes all of 10 seconds to setup. I put a little bike grease in there to keep it lubed a well. Also if you are replicating this project outdoors I highly recommend the galvanized version of the flange to avoid rust issues.
