I've had good success with putting the chain on a couple thicknesses of aluminum foil (reused many, many times, of course) on my stove's electric burner. 30 seconds on high and then let it cool down and it's ready for oil when I can pick it up. Direct contact transfers the heat a bit more quickly than in the oven.
