Back in an earlier life my bike shop had classic steam radiators, those big cast ones with a number of "cells" that sat on the floor and hissed or clanked. We would place a solvent wet chain on the workshop one and in 10 minutes the chain was dry.
BTW those radiators would also melt out the frozen water inside the bike messengers' freewheels when they would stop by complaining of not being able to coast any more. We'd park the bike against the radiator while we talked and presto changeo in a few minutes we had "fixed" the problem
