Bikes: cheap ones

I recently got in to the fixed gear game. About a month ago I bought a purefix from the local bike shop, basically on a whim. It's my first road bike and when I took it for a test ride I thought it was pretty nice. Then I came here and saw that they are regarded as a nothing special/low end bike.

I have fun riding it and that's all that matters, but as I ride it more I've begun to realize that it does have it's weaknesses. The non machined braking track on the front wheel is probably my biggest peeve so far, as it makes for a crappy feel when using the brake. I've done a few cheap upgrades, new seat, bullhorn handlebars, and alloy pedals, but that's about as much $$$ as I'm going to put into it.

So I'd say just ride your new bike and stay away from any upgrades like a carbon fork or a new crankset as the cost of those items would come close to the price of the bike. Of course it all matters what you want out of your bike, and a carbon fork might give a slightly smoother ride than the aluminum one that it came with.

For me I plan on upgrading to a more expensive bike in the future and keeping the purefix as an around town bike/bar hopper.

Edit: I'm assuming you're talking about this bike https://fortifiedbike.com/products/i...ant=3851866949

At 23lbs that has to be the heaviest aluminum framed bike I have seen.
