I second this notion, though if the bike is still enjoyable, I like to upgrade when replacing parts to a better grade of component.

And, agreed as well, the interface points make a huge difference. Though, I'm cheap enough to sustain some discomfort before "did tings gotta GO!"

I'll bet when you get some miles on, you'd appreciate more costly tires, too.
