You can download the E-Tube software from Shimano to a computer and hook it up via USB at the junction box. The software will show you the exact part numbers installed in your bike and load the latest firmware too. Shimano has a compatibility matrix in their website somewhere which shows what parts are needed for the full functionality. For instance I have the old battery which means I can't do syncro-shift and I can't do Bluetooth updates because I have the old wireless unit.
