Bikes: Too many, but sometimes not enough.

As an experienced welder, I'd advise against trying to weld that. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with welding near the fork crown (think unicrown forks), but the fact that there is that much cracking is a bad sign. Either the metal was improperly heat treated, or the alloy wasn't quite right, or it has seen some real abuse. If this was some high dollar fork, then maybe for a bike that wouldn't see much use. In this case, I'd just find another cheap fork on eBay.
