It has been a while since I have offended everyone with a word usage advisory so here goes. "Begs the question" does not mean the same thing as "raises the question" or "suggests the question" no matter how often you hear it used that way, even on news shows. It is actually a fairly complex word usage meaning that a conclusion is based on an argument that doesn't support it. If someone presents you such an argument, you can tell them ,"That begs the question." It has nothing to do with suggesting a question. There seems to be a lot of misuse of this going around everywhere right now especially on the 41. I suspect it won't be long before even a die hard like I am will have to just accept that the meaning is changing.
One of my pet peeves too. It is way overused in the wrong context.
