I've given up on waterproof jackets. They're just too uncomfortable for me. In rain, I would rather wear a synthetic jacket that acts like a sponge. Once it's saturated, it won't take any more on, and if it's not cold, I'll be OK. The new synthetics are about as good as wool at staying warm when wet, and they can be breathable as well, even when serving spong duty. Wow, those last three words form a weird phrase.
