That is precisely where my Nishiki Competition frame failed after 20 years and 40K miles. I tossed the frame. Interestingly, Nishiki was willing to apply the face value of my $150 (1971) purchase price toward the purchase of a new bicycle, thereby making good on the lifetime frame warranty. I didn't take them up on it because I have had such good luck with used bikes. (The Nishiki was the only bike I ever purchased new. My father bought my first Bianchi new when I was 12. All of my other bicycles have been either purchased used or given to me by friends.)
