Here's a picture of Miss day, circa 1950 with her son, Terry Melcher, who grew up to become a prominent producer with Columbia Records. He produced records for the Mamas & Papas, Beach Boys, Glen Campbell and several others. Most importantly, he was instrumental in the early success of the Byrds, helping them develop their folk rock sound and producing their first two albums. Melcher was also the original, intended target in the Manson-Tate murders.
In a recent two-hour telecast examining Manson and his crime it was revealed that he knew Melcher had already moved from the house on Cielo and that the decision was made to proceed with the attack and kill anyone residing there at the time, unfortunately for those victims.
