Don't think he worked out rotational inertia of a thin bicycle wheel under acceleration compared to comparative forces needed at any given speed. I do know that when I go light with rims and tires I can take off much faster than when I have heavier rims and tires, number one. AND, number two, it seems like the lighter setup also requires less effort on my part to keep rolling when at speed.
So, for my uses --- lighter is way better.
When I want to bang on top of things or do jumping and smashing into things, I take out my MOUNTAIN BIKE and fatso tires.
