All the frames he was making at the time were highly tailored to the buyer - I don't think he ever put serial numbers on the early bikes but he might still have the original records & can figure out your bike based on size, color, etc? He seems to back in business - maybe try contacting fatchance.bike. I was in high school at the time & for a few years my summer job was working as shop gopher for Chris. I got the frame as a sort of pay-out since salary was otherwise pretty low (labor of love i guess). I probably had about the nicest bike of any 16 year old in town. I recall spending 2 weeks salary to buy a beautiful set of fat silk tubular tires which rode like a magic carpet until they were irreparably flatted after about 2 days.
Amazing! Did you go to Rindge? My first job in high school was at Dickson Bros Hardware, in the square. I can only imagine what an experience it would have been to work in a shop like that, at that age. And you still have the bike! I took your advice and sent a message through the website. I'm sure they're a little busy to be responding to random questions about old bikes, which don't involve a sale, but we'll see
