Yesterday I started feeling something odd in my lower back. Not really pain, just a weakness that was hard to explain.

When I woke up this morning it was still there. However it wasn't bad so I went out for a 4.5 mile run. The further I went the more I could start feeling some pain in my lower back. The last couple miles it was making itself quite known. However as soon as I stopped running it suddenly became extremely bad.

I limped inside. While either standing or sitting the pain is bearable. Transitioning from one position to the other, however, causes shooting pain to go down my left leg. I think I've managed to get some sciatica.

After showering and loading myself up with ibuprofen it was all I could do to get my shoes and socks on. I thought about just driving to work but my consecutive streak is at 273 days and I decided the only way I'm breaking it is to be physically unable to ride the bike. I decided to at least give it a try before I threw in the towel.

Somehow, using a precise combination of willpower and stupidity I made it to work on the bicycle. It hurt real bad at times, so I geared down and went really slow. Now I'm sitting here at work wondering how long I'm going to make it. I may throw in the towel and go back home where I can lay down.

Never really had an issue with back pain before. I'm starting to empathize with people who deal with this chronically.
