If people have raised issue with me being there, I'd move on. Churches (even with schools) tend to have lots of downtime where vehicles parked there are painfully obvious, that other places with big parking lots don't. It can't be the only big parking lot in the area that you could find use out of, and if it is, as others have mentioned take up riding there or find a new route.
