'83 Miyata 1200 - Bay Area Sale
This is going up on eBay next Thursday, and I'll pull this offer then. $299 plus flat fee shipping of $50 now, or you are welcome to pick-up. Listed in the '83 Miyata catalogue on-line. Copy from my soon-to-be ad:
This was my ride, not a flipper. Picked this up about 5 years ago as a garage queen, local California owner. Even had the original bar tape & 700 x 20 tires. (No Miyata water bottle. Surprisingly, this frame will accept Gatorskin 700x28s with its stock components, though you lose the quickness.)
Beautiful bike to ride, stable at speed with no hands and a rocket with 23s. Essentially, its a Miyata Pro in "gentleman" dress. I've only seen one other of these for sale, a fairly rare bike. Serial is K9788343.
Selling because I'm riding 58-60cm now. Although this top tube is specd at 57cm, it's more like 565mm. Some of the components are now on another bike, some are retired. What's being sold here is the frame and fork only, and assembled bike pic is for catalogue reference only. And yes, does have Suntour Superbe Pro semi-horizontal drop-outs if you want to go fixie, 126mm rear (see catalogue link below for full specs & frame dimensions). I ran an ultra seven freewheel and an alpine compact crankset, but it's natural configuration was twelve gears.
There are some touch-up attempts, some looking better than others. But it is amazing clean for its age, paint glows metallic gold, decals are mostly in find shape ( the weakest shows some pitting, left side as shown in pics), lug work is terrific. One issue is the plastic headbadge was nicked when I got it, so a replaced it with a late 80s Miyata headbadge - sorry about that. I do think it looks nicer.
