I couldn't wait to get my cataracts fixed. The week before I was to have my first one done (right), I experienced a retinal hemorrhage in the left eye and went blind in it. I had to have a vitrectomy (Google that surgery) so they did the left one first. I was supposed to get bifocal lenses inserted but the left eye structure was too weak after the vitrectomy for the bifocal lens (extra hooks) so they had to insert a fixed lens (fewer hooks).

I started wearing glasses at 8 years and was near-sighted but now, I'm far-sighted and must wear cheaters. When I was still near-sighted I could squint and read but no more.

Still, 20-20 for anything over about 5' is fine with me.
