1990's Murray 10 speed

I have a Murray 10 speed “MT. Climber” that I bought around 1994 for about $80 from either K-Mart or Wal-Mart (don't remember which). I bought it to take short rides with my kids, but unfortunately I got divorced about a year later or maybe less so the bike sat unused for 22 years.

Now I am recently retired and have taken up bike riding as a way to stay active and keep physically fit. I've dusted off the Murray, added a few accessories (new seat, water bottle, and a pair of mirrors) and started riding about 20 miles daily, weather permitting.

Much to my surprise, rather than just being a necessary chore, I am enjoying riding so much that I look forward to it each day.

The bike rides and shifts well, and after almost a quarter century, the tires have not dry rotted and the original tubes still hold air at the recommended 40 psi.

I know that department store bikes have a bad reputation among enthusiasts. Out of curiosity, I Googled my bike and learned on Wikipedia that in the early to mid 1990's, Murray bikes were made in a union plant in Lawrenceburg TN. Then that plant shut down and production was moved to a non union plant in Alabama. That plant only lasted a couple of years, and production was then moved to China.

My Murray has a “Made in Lawrenceburg TN, USA” sticker so it was among the last made at the union plant.

Additional info:
Engraved Frame Serial Number: MOK6697***[last 3 digits redacted]
Serial Number(?) Decal: 4-9776X92-073***[last 3 digits redacted]
Additional Decal: 44x3819

My questions are:

Is there any way to tell the year of manufacture by the serial number?

I assume that the commercial value of this bike is well under $50, am I correct?

Considering that it is a made in the USA bike, how was the quality for its day and original price (around $80)?

How is its quality compared to current Wal-Mart type bikes?

Recent photo of bike attached, if my low post count will allow it.
