Velo Orange has some really nice quality rims for sale. On my old steel bike I have a pair of their RAID 700c (double-eyelet) rims paired with Phil Wood spokes. They're durable and look really classic.

I've ridden on older MAVIC Open Pros--they're also really good; and MAVIC Ksyriums (SSC-SL). I've never had a problem with any MAVIC product.

Velocity Wheels are supposed to be really fine, too; but I think they are pricey. I don't have direct experience with these.
