Keep in mind that the Warbird has five year frame and three year fork warranty. All Niner non-carbon parts come with a two year warranty while carbon parts come with five.

Both the RLT 9 and Warbird have similar chainstay length, wheelbase and bottom bracket drop. Neither are terribly racy but the Warbird is going to come in lighter and that's why I think it is marketed as a racy bike while the RLT 9 steel is marketed as an all day adventure bike. Either will likely be a great bike but you pay for less weight, and the Salsa mystique IMO.

You might want to look at a Jamis Renegade Expert. Similar geometry to the bikes above, 105, hydraulic brakes, centerlock hubs, 12° flared bar, fork mounts, 21 lb, $2699 list. The best value today might be Jamis Renegade Elite. It has an amazing parts mix but is $3899 list. Not sure what actual street price is on these.

Great points. I've actually looked quite a bit at the Renegades since I can get them a little cheaper at my LBS. The Elite has awesome specs, especially the MTB Race wheels, which are very light. Which makes me wonder why the bike is still 19lbs. Jamis makes nice bikes but they sure don't seem light.
