Go to your local bike store/coop and ask to borrow the things you don't have. They'll likely sell you all the different ferrules you need for $1 and you can just use a cable cutter to cut the housings.

And a crimper? A pair of pliers will work just fine. (By the way, the ferrules aren't crimped onto the ends of the housings, they're held in place just by cable pressure.) I'm assuming you meant a crimper to put the end on the cable itself.
