Hi, gigglez. Welcome to the forums. You'll probably have better luck getting an answer on the main C&V forum, but for now I can at least offer you this link:
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/seatpost-sizes.html. He has the size listed as 29.4 for a 1994 MB-2. The '89 may well be different, but that's at least a place to start. Many folks just test a number of seat posts until they find one that fits. If you don't have a collection of seat posts, try at a local bike co-op or shop that works on vintage bikes. Good luck.
