By all means use all 3 intelligently, it would be foolish to advise otherwise.

But don't claim that it's possible to reliably control other road users actions under all circumstances, and rule out legitimate options the way the mentioned theories do.

There's a time and place to use every option from the centerline to sidewalk, and there's times and places to to exclude some of those options. Every cyclist and circumstance is different, fancy graphics, theories, and mantras can't determine what will work for everyone in a given time and place.
