I had some rattling from the front fender chunk on my Kirk Terraplane, saw palincss' Longstaff, and shamelessly stole the idea. Only makes sense to "borrow" from the smart ones. Bye-bye rattle.
Nice job! No shame need be involved: I put it out there so you could use the idea. I'd happily illustrate it myself, including a close-up of the fender eyelet showing the two stays and the two R clips, but the system won't let me post pictures, not until I have more than 10 posts.
