Bikes: Surly Disk Trucker, 2014 w/Brooks Flyer Special saddle, Tubus racks - Duo front/Logo Evo rear, 2019 Dahon Mariner D8, Both bikes share Ortlieb Packer Plus series panniers, Garmin Edge 1000

I did my first real ride/trip with the Garmin today. As far as the data/computer side of things goes - it is a nice device. The only thing I haven't found if it does it or not is allow you to resume a pre-saved ride. I made some adjustments to the alarms I had set at my half way point, closed out of the ride to do it, then couldn't get back in so I recorded a new ride and added the data.

The map also leaves a lot to be desired. It is functional, but I am used to a 7" screen with my tablet and GaiaGPS so moving to a small screen is a bit awkward for me. I could get used to it. The refresh, zoom, and pan features are a bit odd for me to use but they work.

I will do more of a review as I have time and ride more. When I ordered/received this I was in the middle of a move and my back went out so I've been busy and not having too easy of a time the past several weeks. I am itching to get my mileage count up though.

One last item of consideration - the Edge 1000 does not have an internal way to add in miles to the odometer. Apparently you have to edit the .fit file to do this. I haven't found a way to do that just yet. The last method I tried had the data correct on the computer, but I couldn't get the Garmin to read the edited .fit. It reverted back to the original file in it. If you have any tricks with this let me know.
