There may or may not be much of an appreciable difference. Much of it depends on your fit. Typically when you spend more, you take more time to get what you like and want. Don't discount the mental aspect either. A lighter bike may also help close a small gap quicker making it feel faster. My carbon bike feels quicker than my steel bike because it is much lighter. My times don't really reflect that it or I is faster though.
