1965 Schwinn Collegiate rehab

I'm going to slowly rehab the old 1965 Schwinn Collegiate 5sp that my dad rode in college. I'll be posting up some pics tonight. It seems to be mostly original except the fork looks wrong; no paint and looks like it was damaged and repaired "good enough" to get it rolling again...which makes me a little nervous; the wheel is not centered in the fork. The rest of the bike is black. A couple questions to start:

Fork
There is a similar vintage woman's Collegiate 30 min. away that appears to be in decent shape. Seller wants $85. Would the fork off that bike be the same as mine? Only issue is that the bike for sale appears to be brown (Coppertone?). I would be looking at this as a parts donor bike, then sell or give away what I don't need. Or am I better off watching ebay or searching locally for a donor frame with a decent BLACK fork?

Cable housing
What have others done about cable housing; keep it close to looking original or just use standard black housing? I'm assuming whitish colored housing was OEM?

That's all I have for now. I'll post some pics once I get a free moment tonight.

Thanks!
