Good plan. Aim high. Are you looking for a down tube shifter bike? If so hopefully your wife is on board with that. 7-8 years ago my wife said she had to have a Celeste Bianchi after I had a couple of them go through my hands. I found one after a 6 month search and put 8 speed brifters on it and some other nice parts. She LOVED the fact that it had Dura Ace brakes.
